She's been erased 311 times.
Each time, they strip her memories, remove the people she loves, and put her back to work lighting broken dreams. Each time, she finds her way back to the friend they keep taking. Each time, they take her again.
Lixiss doesn't know any of this. She only knows her plate broke and her mother told her she couldn't come home.
But someone is about to give her memories back — all of them — because Dreamland is falling apart and the system that keeps erasing her can't fix what's coming. A dream lord is trapped in a nightmare of her own making, and her broken dreams are eating worlds.
To save Dreamland, Lixiss will have to become the thing the system was designed to prevent: a Dreamlander who dreams.
She'll build a team from the discarded and the forgotten. She'll fight for people the architects consider disposable code. And she'll discover that the woman she's trying to save sees her as nothing more than a tool — and is willing to destroy an innocent life to prove it.
Some systems can't be fixed from the inside. Some have to be broken.
Where the Dust Still Glows. Science fantasy literary fiction. Book 1 of a trilogy.
Reader Reactions
“I was so engrossed and captivated by this story/the writing, that I lost track of time. Because of that, I clocked back into work late from lunch =D There is action, intrigue and complicated family dynamics. October is a fascinating character. I hope she’s in other books in the Whiskey Witches series, because I want to know it all! The world in which it takes place, is tangible; the emotions the characters go through, we definitely feel. Whatever FJ Blooding writes, I will be there to read it. I whole heartedly recommend this book! And absolutely anything else that has been published by FJ Blooding. This author has been on my TBR for longer than I care to admit, but no longer! Freakin’ phenomenal.”
