What do you do when the only way to stop a monster is to become one?

Paige Whiskey has come home to Oregon. To her family's land. To the truth about where she comes from and why the war between witches and shifters has raged for generations.

And standing in her way is Merry Eastwood—two hundred years old, impossibly powerful, and impossible to stop through any legal means.

When murders start piling up with Merry's name all over them, Paige knows it's a setup. But she also knows Merry is guilty of far worse—crimes no one can prove, horrors no one can touch.

So Paige has to decide: play by the rules and let Merry win, or bend them and risk becoming exactly what she's fighting against.

Because the thing about power is—it doesn't care about your intentions.

[Title] is about what it costs to build a new world when the old one refuses to let go. It's about choosing your family, your society, and yourself—even when the choice makes you dangerous.

This is how Paige Whiskey becomes who she was always meant to be.

The story is of personal interaction and shifting alliances. That’s all well and good, but after reading the series having Merry temporarily detained with planted evidence is kind of deflated. Maybe there’s another book out there in the future waiting for us?
